Aloha Langkawi

Honestly, the Langkawi trip has ALMOST been a disaster.

First of all, we made the biggest mistake by choosing the wrong hotel. Well, not like we had a choice though, cuz everything was pre-arranged by the agency as we didn't have a say on a free tour anyway. So. We stayed at this resort called Langkasuka, which at first i was happy to know that it's only 5 mins away from the airport. But later we found out the airport is the only place it is near to. It is blurdie far from EVERYWHERE ELSE.

Secondly, it was very cloudy during our entire stay in Langkawi. It even rained the second day. I didn't manage to catch a good sunset shot because of the lousy weather. However, it was good in a way, for i can save 20ml of my precious sunblock lotion, as well as for my own good since im such a notorious sun-phobic.

Thirdly, we survived on roti jala and chicken murtabak the entire journey because that was the only food available in the hotel. No fresh seafood, no nothing. What a disaster for a glutton like me.

Fourth, it was still the hotel's fault. We were so far away from town we could only stay in the room after the half-day tour. Thank cheeses they have TV3 so we could still catch Malaysian Idol 2 finals. If not i guess we would be sleeping when the clock strikes 8.

Fifth, Langkawi is soooooooo ulu. For cheeseness sake can't they do something about the rubbish everywhere and the holey roads? C'mon, this is LANGKAWI, one of the most talked-about national tourist attractions, how can you fool the tourists with cheapskate so-called tourist spots like a lousy waterfall which can be found everywhere else. The Mahsuri Museum was a total crap too. Wasted my RM3. The visit all the way to the Gamat shop was a waste of time too. I suspect they brought us to these dumb places during the first (and only) trip so that they can make us pay again to visit some more "interesting" places the following days.

Anyway, enough bout the bad stuffs. At least there was still something good about the trip.

The MAS flight was pleasant. Even the captain had a sense of humor. When he made the announcement in the middle of the flight about the height, speed and weather etc, he also mentioned "We're now passing through the city of cloud", which was really creative.

In fact,the tour would have been extremely boring if we hadn't met this couple from South Africa who came for honeymoon. Now having met them, it is ALMOST extremely boring. LOL.

Well the first day was nothing much. We landed and went on a half-day tour with a Malay couple and Sophia, an old lady who travelled by bus and ferry all the way from singapore, ALONE.

These penguins followed wherever the crowd went, and were staring at us like we're being exhibited instead. LOL

Visit to Eagle Square

After going back to the hotel, me and mom had a stroll on the beach behind the hotel. I mean, thank cheeseness there was a beach! Ichigo told me the one she and her ex-beau stayed in has no beach in sight. They had to walk a long distance for the sea breeze.

The weather was not bad. Cloudy, but the sky was blue.

This is prolly gonna be my best shot of all the pix i took.

Day 2.

This time around we arranged our own itinerary with the same agency. There was another couple the driver needed to picked up. And they stayed in the most luxurious hotel in Langkawi, the six-star Four Season.
According to the driver, the cheapest rate for a night stay in Four Season is RM3k. And all the cabs and non hotel guests are not allowed to even drive through the main entrance. They said they have never even seen how the lobby look like.

So we picked up this mysterious South African couple, Craig and Theodora. They had been really nice though. Craig is an english married to Theodora, who speaks strong African accent but looks like a eurasian. She is very very sweet, and is six-month preggie too.

We curiously asked about the hotel, and they immedieately offered us a visit to the hotel after the day tour. Craig said they had not gone anywhere else although this was the third day they arrived Langkawi, because the hotel is just too fantastic. "Trust me, you MUST pay us a visit. You gotta see it," said Craig.
So we decided to follow them back to Four Season after visiting the fish farm, bat cave and did the eagle feeding.

So we saw how a stingray eat, how eagles precisely catch the chicken feet thrown on the lake, and how monkeys have sex. (YES, they did it spontaneously when we passed and stopped by) But none of the mentioned above was more well worth seeing than the inside of Four Season. It was just awwwwwwwsome.

Inside the hotel room, there was this superb bath tub. Theodora said when they first came in, it was full of water with rose petals floating...

Ater that we went for some shopping, and they couldnt believe how cheap the food outside the hotel was, because they just spent RM700 on a fancy dinner on the beach, where a tent with red carpet and lanterns was specially built for them accompanied by performances during the dinner too. And they were the only diners on the entire beach! It was really like a royal dinner for the Egyptian king and queen, according to Theo. How romantic.

Back to the hotel, we fell asleep when Daniel and Nita sang a duet together. Maybe they were too boring, seriously.

Day 3
Took some pix by the beach, then had to rush to town to buy chocolates before heading to the airport. Also visited Galleria Perdana, where Mahathir cleverly makes money from gifts other people ever gave him. That way he can save space in his home by dumping all the unwanted gifts to this museum, and at the same time make everyone who sent him gifts proud. How smart.Oh ya and if some ministers start sulking because their gifts are not exhibited in the galleria and when they feel forgotten and unimportant he will say "oh i luuuurve your gift so much i keep it for my own use!" But it was worth a visit anyway, cuz you have no idea how people suck up to a Prime Minister until you visit the Mahathir Tong Sampah Museum. But i was surprise i did not see presents labelled with Tan Sri Black Master's name.

All and all, it was really our pleasure to know Craig and Theo, and because of them we got to see the most fantastic place in the entire island which normally people dont get to visit unless they can afford RM21,000 a week for accommodation alone. Oh yea, they asked me to visit them next time in South Africa too!! =)

It is so fun to have a Stellar dinner because for the first 5 minutes everyone was busy exchanging food.
So we got to taste 5 different meals. How sweet! =)

Dazz was busy giving everyone everything so she didn't have to eat that much (diet). Jewelstar was the cham-est actually because her cod steak was so freaking tiny there's not much left after she gave a piece to everyone. And i had to cut my ravioli into halves cuz if i gave each one a whole piece i would end up with only the gravvy, LOL.

The toughest thing I’ve to deal with now is an ambivalent emotional struggle, with a mixture of excitement and post-travel-complex.

That was the first ever time I went overseas.

I’m still very much intoxicated with the trip. Finally I got back to KL, yesterday 10:30pm from Incheon international airport. How sweet it is to jump onto my bed of cheeses and munch on lotsa lotsa cheddar snacks. But there’s a teeny-weeny bit of post-travel-blue, I guess it’s like postnatal-blue or some sort. Hmmm…. I wonder why.

Summer in Korea isn’t that hot, maybe it isn’t midsummer yet. We were lucky as everywhere we went was cloudy and cool, cuz Korea is going to be in rain season right now.

One thing I love bout Korea is that they have water dispensers every where (save money to buy drinks) and erm, toilet paper in the wash rooms ALL THE TIME (no more post-business-fright).

But talking bout the food, sighs. Steamboat for breakfast (accompanied with kimchi), steamboat for lunch (accompanied with kimchi), and steamboat for dinner (accompanied with kimchi). How’s that for a trip? If we’re lucky we get to eat some BBQ or ginseng chicken soup. Once a while we did it the Chinese way. And I have to say Chinese food in Korea sucksssssss. Big time.

But there are several things I absolutely love to eat in Korea. First, the Lotte Shrimp Burger. The best thing ever. Second, breads from the bakery. I don’t know why, breads are breads right. But Korean breads are entirely different. It’s a little starchy and chewy but super nice! And then, the BBQ pork (it’s some kind of black piggie). Also there’s this translucent grass-noodle like thingie. Taste like Japanese Konyaku. They tossed it in mayo and it was served as a salad. Damn nice.

But the best thing is!

We had this cute photographer who tagged along the entire journey. He’s our photographer-cum-handyman-cum-waiter-cum-tour-guide-assistant-cum-eyecandy. (okay, for girls and obaasans). He’s a Korean who speaks little mandarin. Even though things get cheesed-up sometimes due to communication difficulty, he’s still so helpful (have to really emphasize that) that at last we had no grunts paying 50,000 (that’s like RM180) won for the pictures he had taken for us.

Everything was just nice there, except for the inevitable cheeselessness, which I’ve already anticipated. The aftermath of this trip is I hopelessly search for water dispensers everywhere I go, forgetting I’m already 4000km away from Seoul. Still there’s a regret, that is I haven’t tried any Korean Mc D! The Lotte burgers are finger lickin’ good though and cheesus are they healthy! They use rye bread, light mayo, rice cake, crissssssspy fresh salad, yogurt and fruits and of course, less cheese =(

Lets come back to the cheese hunt story. The result isn’t very satisfying. I had this tasteless fruit cheese slices in shopping complex, fried mozzarella stick in Lotte fast food chain. Bought a pack of corn cheese and Low-calories cheese shortbread. Haven’t tried them yet. By the way, have you guys seen red pepper, cactus and sake chocolate?

Friday was an important day for the Stellars. It was not only our new VIP doll Tiara Jasmine’s official Stellarization day, it was also the biggest Stellar get-together.

And I can’t think of a place better than Café Café, because if you are going in a group of more than ten, you can have the private lounge upstairs all to yourselves, so we decided to make this our Stellar private party.

Dazzie is the only doll who knows how to get there so we would all follow her car. Six thirty at arranged meet-up-point.

It was 7.00pm.

Dazzie was stuck in jam and Jewel was fashionably late, as USUAL. I had to pick up Angel Jac at her apartment, then Tiara at 1U, then Foxy Mandy at KDU yet I was still the earliest.

Speaking of Tiara, at first I thought she was a total carbon copy of Princess. Pink sweetness, LV madness, always wears a tiara (else why do you think she is nicked as such), until I chatted with her on MSN.

Tiara: So belle, what are u gonna wear for Stellar evening?
Babybelle: prolly a white long sleeve ruffle top and black pants. I will so look like a pianist. LOL.
Tiara: OMG. That’s what I’m gonna wear too!

Two days later.

Tiara: Hello Belle. Just to tell you I’ll be wearing a skirt. If not we’ll look like we wear the same outfit.
Babybelle: Tell you what. I was thinking about what exactly you were thinking.
Tiara: LOL.

Then the moment we met in 1U.

Babybelle: OMC!
Angel: *laughs* You dolls look just like twins.

Anycheese. Let’s get back to the story. While waiting for Dazzie and Jewel, Angel was doing her make up. Foxy was humming to Hitz. Tiara was on the phone and Babybelle was, well, bored.

Babybelle: Well actually, we shouldn’t waste the sunshine you know.
Angel and Foxy: *blank*
Tiara: *looks at Babybelle curiously*
Babybelle: Let’s take some pictures.
Tiara: *nods aggressively*
Babybelle: *murmurs to herself* Sunshine is precious…

Half an hour later, Dazzie reached. While continue waiting for Jewel…

Finally our so royal miss president was here.

We managed to make it before 8pm at Café Café. But problem again. Two dolls last minute FFKed (how expected), and we only had a group of eight. Apparently Café Café’s management are aware of this common problem and told me beforehand that if we have come in less than 10, we’ll have to dine down stairs and “that’s the deal”.

So how? Cannot let two FFKish dolls ruin our Stellarific eve right. So Miss President insisted it’s not a problem, because it’s impossible eight glam dolls can’t have a way around this.

And we made it. Stellars Power!!

LOL. But serious. This place is just so stellar, we totally melt into the surrounding. With the Stellar dress code, it really made us the Café Café Chatelaines.

And everyone started asking each others where they got their tops from. Jewel’s from Singapore. Tiara’s mom got her the ruffle top from Hong Kong. I flew mine back from Taiwan. Peeps, don’t you just love traveling?

We really made ourselves at home. =)

Day 4 we did some sight seeing (and more eating, you'll witness) since we I had been shopping 3 days in a row.

This place is called Dan Shui, about 18 stations away from where we stayed.

Holy cheese.

It's a 3-floor restaurant and it was FULL HOUSE. We had to wait for people to leave their seats, something like what you do in Penang for the char kuey teow. And it was soooooooo packed and it seemed like my expensive dress would be spilled and decorated with the juicy Age stuffing anytime.

So you are wondering how nice the age could be to attract soooo many people?

You really wanna know?

Finally we did some sight-seeing today, so scrap that Supa-Shopaholic-Cheese title off me. Oh wait, i actually love the title. I'm keeping it. LOL.

But before your "what, are you crazy come all the way to taipei to eat Mc D" remark, lemmi tell you what.

So it's burger that made my Day 4 cheesarifically cheeseful again!!!! Now you know what my fav food is in Taipei. =D

Today is a lucky day!

Day 2 has most pictures and some of the best! =)

I know i was not supposed to wake up so early on Day 2, but having been to Singapore and picked up some of its kiasuness, we cannot let the breakfast coupons go to waste so 8.30am and we were all ready for breakfast.

We decided to go to Xi Men Ding today, but it was only 9+am after breakfast and most of the shops in Taipei only open after 11am. But what should we do in such a lovely morning? The hotel front desk suggested the Wedding Street, but it's a bit too far to walk so we headed to the MRT going to Xi Men Ding anyway.

Singapore Escapade..

I'm back people! With a sore back (stupid 6 hours journey) , aching knees and thighs (danced too much), shoulder pain (stupid bus ride again!), super tired feet (too much walking), and a recovering flu.

Aloha KL. I'll make my 6D5N stay in Singapore blog entry really short so that you don't have to bear with my lousy writing. In fact it could be so short i can actually sum up the whole trip in one word--"crazy". To be more precise, it should read "shopping in SG is absolutely crazy". I'll explain why later. But meanwhile i'm gonna bombard you with lotsa pix. So stop complaining and upgrade your bandwidth now.

I'm so proud to finally give SG a friendly visit after being her neighbour for 21 years. It's nice. There's no wonder why Xia Xue hates KL. Now i think she has her reasons. I don't wanna be a KL-hater because i like the way it is except traffic jam (and FYI i am anti-jam because i love cheese too much), but there's really something special bout SG.

Just check out the Xmas deco. It's everywhere. I like the way it makes me feel i'm surrounded by something pretty. It's some happening loneliness. And that is beautiful.

SG is amazing. All their building looks yummy. They have building that looks like a huge piece of cake at night.

So i need to make a trip down to Bukit Bintang now and see if they have done an equally good job.

Now back to shopping. Orchard road is no way like Jalan Bukit Bintang. Go and count how many malls they actually have and you'll know 6 days is barely enough for a decent shopping spree. But anywee pardon my ad nauseam exclaimations but shopping in SG is crazy!!!!!

If you're darn loaded, good for you, cuz it's crazier. It's a real torture. There're so many pretty (and expensive) things, if you buy one you will feel sorry for yourself because you want to buy all. For me it's an extreme ordeal. Can see can touch but cannot bring home. That's just so awful.

Anywee, there's one very sad thing though. I had a very bad flu since the way down to SG in the coach and it lasted the entire trip and therefore almost every i ate became tasteless. Well except this thai soup thingie i had in Wisma Atria food court which was so freaking hot it burnt my innards up. But i actually liked it. It temporarily cured my flu. Haha.

As far as my taste buds can vaguely remember, food in SG was great. It's impossible for a glutton to not want to try out everything in sight that looks tempting but luckily i walked alot so that sort of evens out the input and output. But then again later i would eat again. Cream puff, rare cheesecake, desserts, get the picture? So i had to walk more the next day to make up for those extra calories. That's a vicious cycle man.

Let's check out some of the food i had. For sure, the one thing i cannot miss it for my life is Mos Burger! You know how badly i wanted it. =D

Why do we only have Hachiban and Ichiban in KL? The Ajisen meal is super hearty. And yummmmmy!!

Cheese. That. Out. The egg was super mega duper nice. Couldnt imagine an egg could be that yummy. OMC it melted my heart totally.

Special Ramen and Black Pepper Beef Ramen with side dishes Gyoza and Baby Octopus. And these are what made my tummy full till night time!

Went to Singapore Zoo too, on Day 2. The last time i went to a zoo was prolly 12, 13 years ago. Nostalgic. =)

In case you didn't notice, i purposely wore a Zooish, Jungleish outfit so that i can camouflage as a part of the animal kingdom too.

Overall it has been fun. It was fun though i was sick. My friend said that sounds like "sick fun". LOL. But it's holiday. Holiday has to be fun.

Just that i felt a little weird to have to shop alone all the time. That's very strange cuz i am pround of my ability to enjoy shopping alone in PJ. But it just felt a little, well, lonely. Prolly that's because no one was beside me to take pictures with (or for me). Duo is better than solo here. Definitely.

I would wanna go back again. Now who wants to go with me this time? You know where to queue right. =)

Taipei Trip Preview

I’m sorry peeps for not replying your Xmas messages, because Hotlink’s roaming rate is freaking crazy!! I pre-loaded RM200+ and it was almost gone by the third day. One sms cost a freaking RM2, which means I will have like RM50 deducted from my credit if I reply all of you.

That’s the reason why you got my late reply, which saves me RM47.50. But it was still Xmas, wasn’t it? =)

Anywee, Taipei is grrrrrrrreat! Before you get dizzy with all the photos I’m gonna post, lemmi summarize my Taipei trip in 10 observations.

1. China Airline played Hayley Westenra’s new album on the plane! Which makes the 4 hours 20 mins flight peacefully pleasant.

2. Taipei’s winter is warm. Surprisingly Xmas eve was the warmest. It was 20°C in the afternoon, and about 16°C at night. I could just wear a tank top and mini seriously. But that would make me look like a lunatic from PJ who got strayed in Taipei. So where’s my furry coat?

3. I saw Jolin Tsai and Chi Ling everywhere! Nah I’m just kidding. But seriously, chun chix are everywhere in Taipei. It’s easier to spot a chun chick with holes in her socks than to spot an Emmentaler cheese with holes on its body.

4. Furthermore, they really know how to make themselves look best, with hair extensions, eye lash extensions, and impeccable make up.

5. Speaking of make up, I just lurrrrrrrve winter. I could do my make up 9am in the morning and come back 10pm with the make up intact. Even the mascara won’t smear a bit! No more looking like China’s most precious animal after a whole day shopping spree.

6. Girls in Taiwan speak so manja manjaly. The pretty flight attendant would say “不好意思哦, 番茄汁没有了耶~~” with a loooong drag on the “耶”; and the shop assistants will all say “要进来看哦, 买要快哦~~” Actually, not only girls, all the obaasans also speak the same manja manja way! LOL.

7. Taipei peeps are so disciplined. When you see anyone standing on the left side (speed lane) of the escalator, you know he/she is a Malaysian. During rush hours, you even have to queue to get onto the escalator! And also, when we walked in Shi Lin night market, everybody was looking at us strangely, because there’s such thing as “walking on the wrong side at the pasar malam” in Taipei! When you walk “into” the market, you walk on the left. And on the way out, you walk on the right. Something to learn, Petaling Street!

8. You see a lot of young couples pushing a buggy car on the street. No, Taipei folks don’t get married and have babies extra young. Just that, doggies in Taipei are so damn spoilt! All the doggies wear fancy winter clothing, get their hair dyed, sit in a buggy…. Even stray dogs get to wear something. *imitates Taipei chix* 台北的狗狗真的好幸福哦~~~

9. Think KL is the heaven of food? Think again! Even the food in convenient stores (which can be found 10 steps away from wherever you stand) is extra delicious!

10. Service in Taipei is also extra good. Sales assistant won’t look as if you just spilled stinkacheese ink on her face when you walked away from the shop without buying anything after she explained to you in great details for 20 minutes. Cab drivers are professional. They chat with you non-stop and fill you with all kinds of information (provided you speak decent mandarin) till he gets you to your destination. And, no gov tax or service charge in restaurants!
